The UniBrass Foundation is excited to be putting on a pair of free, one off concerts in Oxfordshire this weekend as part of their on going mission to showcase and support youth and university brass banding.
The first of these concerts will take place on Saturday 30th August from 6pm at Linacre College (OX1 3JA) and will showcase the work and achievements of students participating in the ‘come and play day’ taking place earlier on in the day. The come and play day, which is being led by conductor and composer Andrea Price, will bring together students from across the country and see students working on a diverse programme of music based around the theme of ‘Civilisations’, including music by Andrea Price, Peter Graham, William Rimmer, and more.
The second concert, taking place at Witney High Street Methodist Church (OX28 6HG) at 3pm on Sunday 31st August will feature the trustees of the charity coming together to perform a selection of music including brass band staples, works from classical composers, jazz and pop songs, and music from film and stage. As well as playing, the trustees will also be discussing the work of the charity and how they help support young musicians.
A spokesperson for the UniBrass Foundation said: “We hope that this exciting weekend of brass playing in Oxfordshire will help showcase both the work of our charity, as well as the incredible young musicians we have the privilege of working with. We really hope that people will be excited to come out and support these concerts and add a bit of brass music to their weekend!”
Both concerts are free and un-ticketed, with audiences welcome to make donations to support the work of the charity.
