Information for UniBrass Participants

UniBrass 2023 was hosted by the University of Warwick and took place on Saturday 11th February 2023. 

Contest Rules

Each section of the contest is adjudicated by two adjudicators, who allocate points on musicality (out of 100) and entertainment (out of 50).

Venue Information

The Warwick Arts Centre is at the heart of the University of Warwick (CV4 7AL).
You can reach Warwick Arts Centre via the A45, A46, M40 and M42, follow signs for "Warwick Arts Centre" or the "University of Warwick". There is plenty of car parking nearby on the university campus.

If you're traveling by public transport, you can get the train to Coventry and then the 12X bus. There are regular buses from Coventry, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth to the Warwick Arts Centre (12X, 11, 11U, U1, U2, 14).

 

Coach parking locations will be advised nearer the time.

The Contest - Shield and Trophy Photo

The Trophy Section

The Trophy Section will be taking place in the Warwick Arts Centre's Butterworth Hall. 

The order of play for the Trophy Section is:

  1. Huddersfield 

  2. Royal Birmingham Conservatoire 

  3. Nottingham 

  4. Sheffield

  5. Manchester & Manchester Metropolitan

  6. Durham

  7. Birmingham 

  8. Bristol 

  9. York 

  10. Leeds & Leeds Conservatoire 

  11. Chichester

There will be a 55 minute lunch break in between Durham and Birmingham's performances.

The Shield Section

The Shield Section will be taking place in the Warwick Arts Centre Theatre.

The order of play for the Shield Section is:

  1. Bath

  2. Lancaster 

  3. Kings College London

  4. Oxford

  5. Warwick

  6. Southampton

  7. Bangor & Liverpool

  8. Cardiff

  9. Keele

  10. Royal Holloway

  11. Cambridge

There will be a 55 minute lunch break in between Southampton and Bangor & Liverpool's performances.

How to get involved

Registration for UniBrass 2023 has now closed. Registration for UniBrass 2024 will open in September 2023; the registration forms will be circulated via social media, and by email to existing UniBrass competitors. If you're interested in attending a future contest, get in touch to ensure that you get added to our mailing list!
