The UniBrass Foundation, registered charity number 1,159,359, exists to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art of the brass band movement. This is primarily, but not exclusively, achieved by organising the annual University Brass Band Championship of Great Britain.
Students are one of the most marginalised sections of the brass band community and university is a time when many people stop playing. UniBrass exists to try and prevent this and has become the focal point of many university brass bands’ calendars. Since our inception we have been a driving force in the creation of 10 new university bands and have led to the composing of over 20 new works for brass band. These players and band leaders will be the people who maintain our music for years to come.
Unfortunately none of this work is cheap. UniBrass faces costs of up to £20,000 a year, and it is only through the generosity of the public that we can ensure our work can continue. We are grateful for our support over the years through busking and carolling sessions, and Crowdfunding drives. However, there is never a bad time to donate to UniBrass!
