The UniBrass organising committee is delighted to confirm that the 2017 contest will be held on Saturday February 18th. After three successful years at the University of Warwick, the 2017 contest will take place in the Harrogate International Centre.
19 bands have registered for the contest, which will this year be held over two sections – introducing the UniBrass Shield alongside the familiar Trophy. Bands will perform a 20 minute entertainment set to impress our adjudicators for the right to be crowned University Champion Band. Alongside 18 of the bands from last year the 2017 contest will feature four new bands. The UniBrass Shield will have bands from the University of Chichester and Nottingham Trent University, whilst the UniBrass Trophy will feature Zone One Student Brass alongside the Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band. It really will be a phenomenal contest.
Following the contest UniBrass is thrilled to present a Gala Concert from the Cory Band in the main auditorium of the International Centre. Cory Band are the world’s number one ranked brass band and in 2016 became the first band ever to complete the “Grand Slam”, being crowned British Open Champions, National Champions, European Champions and Brass in Concert Champions. Under their inspirational MD Philip Harper they will be performing a full Gala Concert that promises to be a spectacular show!
Tickets for UniBrass 2017 are being sold with the kind support of Brass Bands England and are priced from just £9 for the contest and £10 for the concert. You can get your contest ticket for half price with any gala concert ticket so why not make a day of it!
